Overview
In this role, you will lead upstream activities across fermentation, downstream, and chromatography within a cutting-edge biopharmaceutical facility. You’ll manage cross-functional teams and support new product transfers from R&D to manufacturing, driving continuous improvement and robust process control. You’ll tackle deviations, equipment issues, and scale-up challenges to enable reliable production and scalable product development. This position offers influence on process development and operational excellence in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical team across fermentation, downstream, and chromatography to ensure efficient production and process optimisation
- Investigate deviations and equipment failures, implementing corrective actions to improve performance
- Drive process scale-up, characterisation, and optimisation for new product transfers from R&D
- Monitor operational performance and pursue continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence methods
- Support routine manufacturing, oversee validation activities, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
Key requirements
- Degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or similar)
- Experience in large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing with knowledge of upstream and downstream techniques
- Extensive experience in cGMP-regulated environments and ISO frameworks (ISO9001/45001/14001)
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional team management skills
