We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer to join a leading provider of advanced scientific instrumentation based in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled professional to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex optical and imaging systems across the South and Central regions, including Oxford, Birmingham, Warwick, the Southwest, and South Wales. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of cutting‑edge microscopy and imaging equipment, working closely with customers to provide outstanding support and technical solutions. Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide on‑site technical support, installation, and servicing of complex optical and imaging systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues at subsystem and component levels, applying diagnostic tools and technical knowledge to resolve problems promptly.
- Read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation to perform precise maintenance and repairs.
- Support customers by explaining complex technical issues clearly and providing solutions tailored to their needs.
- Maintain detailed service reports and documentation, ensuring all activities comply with safety standards and quality procedures.
Role Requirements
- A degree or higher level in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Optics, Life Sciences).
- Proven hands‑on experience servicing, installing, or supporting sophisticated scientific instrumentation, ideally involving optical systems, lasers, and imaging technologies.
- Strong understanding of optical systems, lasers, detectors, scanners, and precision mechanics, along with experience with confocal microscopy or similar imaging methods.
- Experience with fault‑finding, troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and software integration.
