We are currently looking for an Associate Director of Business Development to join a leading pharmaceutical organisation based in the UK, supporting their commercial team. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a strategic and driven professional with proven expertise in the UK generic pharmaceutical market. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Play a pivotal role in shaping local portfolio strategy by identifying, evaluating, and securing new in‑licensing deals, distribution agreements, and strategic partnerships across generics and value‑added medicines categories.
- Lead comprehensive market analysis to identify portfolio gaps, niche opportunities, and assess competitive dynamics, supported by robust business cases including forecasting and risk analysis.
- Lead the negotiation of licensing contracts, commercial agreements, and supply arrangements, ensuring favourable terms and alignment with global strategic priorities.
- Manage relationships with third‑party CMOs, ensuring operational matters are addressed efficiently and agreements are optimally maintained.
- Strategically align local business development activities with global R&D, Portfolio, Legal, and Commercial teams to ensure cohesive execution of growth initiatives.
Role Requirements
- A degree or higher level in fields such as pharmacy, economics, biotechnology, chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Proven track record with extensive experience (10+ years) in the UK generic pharmaceutical industry, specifically sourcing, assessing, negotiating, and closing BD deals.
- Deep understanding of UK market structure, NHS procurement, pricing, reimbursement, and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic collaborations and evaluate market opportunities through detailed research and analysis.
