We are currently recruiting a Clinical Bioinformatician to join a leading Pharmaceutical company based in the Berkshire area. As the Clinical Bioinformatician, you will be responsible for generating insights for clinical assets through understanding the mode of action and treatment effects as seen in patient-level molecular data. This role can offer 3 days per week of remote working with 2 days p/w onsite in Berkshire. This role will be hired preferably at a Principal Scientist level, but Senior Scientist level can be considered also. This role is an initial 12 month contract, however the intention is if the candidate does well in the post, it will become permanent.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process, analyse, and interpret data from omics studies for assets in the clinical portfolio, refining understanding of biological mechanisms, disease pathobiology, and characterising treatment effects and safety signals.
  • Develop approaches, methods, and analysis pipelines utilising state-of-the-art tools and technologies to enable the above.
  • Document code, analyses, and ensure reproducibility of results according to best practices suited to patient-level data.
  • Draft reports detailing methods and results that require minimal revision and contribute to scientific publications presenting these analyses (conference abstracts/presentations and manuscripts).

Role Requirements

  • Relevant degree in a related field, such as a Master’s or PhD with proven industry experience.
  • Proven industry experience in pre-processing, integration, and analysis of different omics data types, particularly extensive experience analysing large bulk and single-cell RNAseq datasets. Experience with transcriptomic data is what we are looking for.
  • A working knowledge and practical experience with computational skills, including operating in a HPC Unix environment, cloud-based computational platforms, and containerisation technologies like Docker for reproducible bioinformatics workflows.
  • Experience with R Programming is essential.
