About HyMarnham Power:

HyMarnham Power is a pioneering joint venture between GeoPura and JG Pears, transforming the former High Marnham coal-fired power station into a cutting-edge clean energy hub. The plant will produce, store, and transport 1,800 tonnes per year of low carbon hydrogen using 15 MWe of electrolysers.

The High Marnham site, acquired by the JG Pears Group, has been identified by Bassetlaw District Council as a key site for renewable energy and low-carbon technology. The site will be the home for the HyMarnham Power hydrogen production installation which is helping to drive the UK’s hydrogen economy and accelerate progress towards national net zero ambitions to combat climate change.

About the role:

We are seeking an experiencedPlant Manager to lead the safe, compliant, and efficient operation. This senior management role offers the opportunity to lead and be responsible for the long-term performance, sustainability and production output of a critical facility, while playing a key leadership role in a progressive organisation.

Shift Pattern: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the facility, responsible for safely meeting the production output of the plant by ensuring continuous safe and efficient operations in line with company procedures and statutory requirements
  • Supervising senior operators and engineers to deliver a high level of availability and reliability.
  • Implementing continuous improvement programme to improve production efficiency and reliability
  • Full authority and responsibility for 24/7 plant operations
  • Managing all external relationships with regulators, suppliers, and contractors
  • Overseeing compliance with Environmental permit and all environmental regulations
  • Implementing and maintaining Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems (ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001)
  • Monitoring and reporting on plant KPIs including availability and operational performance
  • Full responsibility for staffing – including recruitment, development, coaching, and performance management
  • Budget management including forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis

Requirements:

  • Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, HND, or Degree level) or equivalent experience in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years’ senior operations management experience, ideally in energy or process sectors.
  • NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management
  • Process plant operations, preferably in industrial gases or chemical manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in implementing safety management systems.
  • Familiarity with high-pressure gas systems.
  • Strong knowledge of QHSE systems and regulatory compliance including DSEAR, PSSR and LV & HV electrical systems.
  • Experience managing standard operating procedures, permiting systems, and maintenance systems in an operational process environment.
  • A background in process industry operations, with solid understanding of systems control and instrumentation.
  • Familiar with OHS Regulations(e.g., UK’s Health and Safety at Work Act, COMAH regulations).
  • Experience in Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis(e.g., HAZOP, FMEA, DSEAR/ ATEX).
  • Knowledge of Emergency Response Planningand coordination, Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience in Safety Auditing & Compliance Monitoring.
  • Previous Leadership in Safety Culture Development.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage a high-performing technical team.
  • Highly driven, with excellent organisational and leadership skills.
