We’re looking for a skilled and motivated pensions professional to join our Trustee Executive Services team. The role is ideal for someone with hands‑on experience as a Scheme Secretary (or Assistant Scheme Secretary) to Defined Benefit pension schemes, who is ready to take ownership of client relationships and play a key part in driving high‑quality governance.

What will your role look like?

  • Taking an active role in leading and developing strong client relationships.
  • Coordinating main board and sub‑committee meetings, ensuring high‑quality minutes are produced.
  • Shaping agendas and supporting trustees to prioritise key matters.
  • Managing actions between meetings and liaising with trustees and scheme stakeholders.
  • Handling trustee discretion cases and member complaint matters.
  • Overseeing budgets and invoice monitoring.
  • Managing inputs into the Scheme Return and ensuring timely submission to The Pensions Regulator.
  • Overseeing project work such as member newsletters, MND elections and other governance activities.
  • Leading on broader governance work, including drafting Own Risk Assessments, supporting risk management activity and conducting board effectiveness evaluations.
  • Travelling to client sites and Hymans Robertson offices as needed.
  • Adhering to the firm's Information Security policies, standards and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Ideally a professional (or part‑professional) pensions qualification such as APMI, AFPC or IFoA.
  • Ideally an Honours Degree.
  • Education to A‑Level/Scottish Higher or equivalent experience.

Skills

  • Experience supporting UK pension funds within a complex pensions environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of the UK pensions legislative framework.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Skilled at managing multiple stakeholders with differing priorities.
