The Vacancy

What will your role look like?

As an Associate Post Transaction Consultant, you’ll play a key role in supporting a portfolio of clients as they navigate the final stages of their journey from buy‑in to wind‑up.

You’ll work closely with both Trustee Boards and Sponsoring Employers of UK defined benefit pension schemes, helping them progress confidently through complex and sensitive end‑game milestones.

You’ll be part of our Pensions Post Transaction Team, focusing on delivering clear, thoughtful advice, building strong relationships with client contacts, and managing multi‑disciplinary projects.

The work is varied and offers excellent opportunities to broaden your experience and shape a career path that reflects your strengths and interests.

We welcome candidates with experience in UK pension schemes—whether gained in actuarial, administration, consulting or pension scheme management environments.

*We are open to considering candidates on a part time or full-time basis*

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include

  • Leading or supporting multiple wind‑up projects, acting as a main point of contact for trustees or working groups.
  • Providing oversight of scheme wind‑up activities, including planning, monitoring and ensuring milestones are met.
  • Liaising with insurers, scheme administrators and stakeholders to maintain progress against project plans.
  • Leading or supporting strategic and technical aspects such as factor comparisons, lump sum exercises, funding reserves and surplus balance sheets.
  • Oversight (not delivery) of data cleansing, GMP Equalisation, administration transition and settlement of DC/residual benefits.
  • Supporting other business areas (actuarial consulting, governance, propositions, new business).
  • Managing delivery against project plans, escalating risks where needed.
  • Delivering training to clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Preparing client invoices in line with internal deadlines.
  • Ensuring accuracy, rigour and clear audit trails across all work.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant pensions law and practice.
  • Collaborating within the Post Transaction Team and wider business.
  • Adhering to Information Security standards, policies and procedures.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have

Personal qualities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills and confident communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset for coordinating stakeholder activity.
  • Motivation to develop technical, consultancy and project‑management skills.
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused approach to challenges.

Qualifications & experience

  • A professional qualification (or part‑qualification) in pensions (e. g., APMI, AFPC or IFo A).
  • Ideally holds an Honours Degree.
  • Educated to at least A‑level/Scottish Higher level, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in consultancy or supporting UK pension schemes (e. g., actuarial work, bulk annuities, trustee exec, scheme management).
  • Understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes appropriate to experience.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support.

We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.

  • In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
  • A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
  • On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
  • A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
  • Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
  • Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in‑office’ days per week.
  • A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
