The Defined Contribution Consulting (DCC) Business Unit is a key part of Hymans Robertson's consulting practice and is recognised as a market leader in the pensions industry. We work with a diverse range of clients, including corporate employers, trustee boards, local government pension schemes and pension providers, helping them navigate complex challenges and deliver better retirement outcomes for their members. Combining deep technical expertise with innovative thinking, we advise on areas including investment, governance, retirement and scheme design, making a real difference to the financial futures of millions of people across the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for a DC Consultant, focusing on Governance work, to join this Business Unit. This is an opportunity to influence the direction of one of the UK's leading Defined Contribution consulting practices, bringing fresh ideas and innovative thinking to our client proposition.

In this role you'll work with a diverse range of trustee and corporate clients, delivering strategic advice on complex pensions challenges and driving business development opportunities. Alongside client work, you'll help develop our people and play a key role in building the future capability of the team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Active contribution to development of new ideas, services and approaches which enhance the longer-term future of our client offering in the DC pensions market (particularly for Trust based clients).
  • Providing high quality DC pensions advice to both trustee and corporate clients on a wide range of issues, employing strategic and innovative solutions where appropriate.
  • Active role in bidding for new business, contributing to ideas, tender competition, pitch preparation etc.
  • Understanding of and advising clients on our client propositions.
  • Developing the consulting capabilities of the Business Unit by coaching and mentoring other team members.

To enjoy and succeed in this role you will have:

  • Relevant experience of working within the Pensions industry, with experience and knowledge of the regulatory and legislative developments of the DC pensions market within the UK.
  • A strong working knowledge and experience of DC governance and Trustee duties.
  • Experience of DC pension scheme design and operations and advising clients about these matters.
  • Strong commercial awareness of the pensions market, and you will enjoy keeping up to date with topical matters arising within this.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through your ability to consult and influence successfully with stakeholders.
  • A flexible, innovative approach to developing solutions for our clients and be enthused by the opportunity to solve complex problems for them.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team, and lead by example with a motivational, hands-on approach, including supporting with the coaching and development of junior colleagues within your Business Unit.
  • The ability to work with large sets of detailed data and other forms of information.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and project management skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Experience of leading the advice given to clients.
  • Experience of public speaking and professional networking.
