Upper KS2 Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Contract: Permanent position
Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (including INSET days)
Schedule: 08:30 – 15:30 (1-hour lunch break)

- Meet HLTA standards or equivalent qualification or experience
- Demonstrate levels of numeracy and literacy equivalent to GCSE (A–C)
- IT skills to support learning and maintain information
- Ability to plan effectively and manage time to enable multi‑tasking

- Ability to supervise pupils effectively, understanding and adapting to pupils with additional SEN needs

Responsibilities:
- Provide support in the classroom, assisting teachers with lesson delivery.
- Plan and manage time effectively to carry out multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Supervise pupils, particularly those with additional SEN needs, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Assist with the development, organisation and maintenance of learning resources, including the library and information boards.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents and staff, reporting on pupil progress and concerns.
- Promote a love of reading by supporting children’s literature activities.
- Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere within the classroom and school.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 or above.
- Enjoy working with young children and be passionate about supporting and promoting learning.
- Be able to engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge children.
- Work successfully as part of a team, accepting and acting upon advice and being proactive where appropriate.
- Be responsible for groups of children and/or conduct 1:1 activities.
- Show initiative, have high expectations of attainment and pupil behaviour, and be flexible, hardworking and caring.
- Can liaise effectively with parents.
- Have a knowledge of children’s literature and promote a love of reading.
- Support and develop the library, putting up and maintaining displays and information boards, supporting exhibitions and one‑off events.
