Key Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and install avionics hardware across suborbital and orbital class rocket subsystems including on-board computers, measurement systems, RF (telemetry, GNSS, FTS), electrical power systems, and pyrotechnic deployment circuits.
  • Perform electrical harness fabrication, routing, and installation including crimping, soldering, connector assembly, and cable bundling to aerospace standards.
  • Manage electrical and mechanical interfaces for on-board avionic subsystems and their ground counterparts.
  • Carry out functional testing and verification of PCBAs, avionics systems at component, box, and integrated vehicle level, provide feedback to design team, where applicable - implement design fixes on schematic or PCBA level.
  • Support the integration and test of avionics systems during stage and vehicle-level assembly campaigns, working closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Perform inspection activities including visual inspection, continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, grounding, and connector verification to ensure build quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Bridge the gap between design and production: assist in the development and review of assembly and test procedures, contributing practical build experience to improve clarity, safety, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate procurement of PCB/PCBAs, manage BOMs.
  • Maintain accurate build records, non-conformance reports, and test logs in line with configuration management and quality assurance requirements.

Basic Qualification

  • Completed studies in aerospace, electrical engineering, or comparable discipline; degrees in related fields will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience as an avionics, electrical, or systems technician in an aerospace, defence, or similar engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical harness fabrication including crimping, soldering, and connector assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Experience performing functional and electrical testing using standard test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Understanding of ESD handling procedures and experience working within ESD-controlled environments.
  • Strong attention to detail with a rigorous approach to workmanship quality and documentation.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary integration team.
  • Experience with PCB circuit analysis and layout design is a strong plus.
  • Experience of manual SMT soldering, reflow techniques and temperature profiles.

Desired Experience

  • Experience working on launch vehicle, spacecraft, or missile avionics systems in an integration and test environment.
  • Familiarity with pyrotechnic systems and associated safety procedures including safe and arm devices and initiator circuits.
  • Knowledge of RF systems, antenna installation, and coaxial cable assembly.
  • Exposure to cleanroom, ESD working practices and associated protocols.
  • Experience using PLM or MES systems for work order management and build record keeping (e.g. Siemens Teamcenter).
  • Formal training or certification in electrical harness manufacture such as IPC-A-620 or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems and non-conformance reporting processes.

This role will be based in Glasgow, Scotland and at occasionally there may be requirements to travel to our facilities in Neuenstadt am Kocher, Germany or our test and launch facilities in Shetland.
