Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact and accountable manager for HyImpulse’s funded grant contracts, ensuring full compliance with funder requirements, terms and conditions, and reporting obligations.
- Manage the financial administration of grant awards including budget monitoring, forecasting, drawdown requests, and expenditure reporting in line with funder guidelines.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders across engineering and programme teams to ensure grant-funded activities are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready records of project activities, expenditure, and outputs to support funder monitoring visits, audits, and evaluations.
- Prepare and submit high-quality progress reports, financial claims, and milestone evidence packs to funding bodies in accordance with contractual schedules.
- Monitor grant-funded project risks and issues, escalating where delivery or compliance may be at risk and working with project leads to implement mitigations.
- Stay current with funder policies, eligibility rules, and procurement requirements, providing guidance to internal teams to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Support the development and submission of bids for new public funding opportunities including UKSA, ESA, Innovate UK, UKRI, MOD, and other relevant bodies.
- Contribute to bid strategy, narrative development, cost modelling, and consortium coordination for new funding applications.
- Build and maintain relationships with funding bodies, consortium partners, and delivery subcontractors.
Basic Qualification
- Proven experience managing publicly funded grant contracts, ideally within a technical, engineering, or R&D organisation.
- Strong understanding of grant compliance requirements including eligible expenditure rules, audit trails, and funder reporting frameworks.
- Experience in financial monitoring and budget management within a grant-funded project context.
- Demonstrable involvement in bid writing or the preparation of funding applications, with an ability to communicate complex technical programmes clearly and compellingly.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience producing formal reports and documentation for external audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel for budget tracking and Word for report preparation.
Desired Experience
- Direct experience managing grants from UK funding bodies such as Innovate UK, UKRI, ESA Business Applications, or DASA.
- Familiarity with grant frameworks relevant to the aerospace, space, or deep tech sectors.
- Experience coordinating collaborative or consortium-funded projects involving multiple partner organisations.
- Background in or strong understanding of an engineering or technical R&D environment, enabling effective engagement with programme teams.
- Knowledge of public procurement regulations and state aid or subsidy control considerations.
- Experience preparing Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments or similar evidence frameworks for funders.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Open Project, Microsoft Project or similar.
- Track record of successful bid submissions with a demonstrable win rate on competitive funding calls.

Location
Our location in Neuenstadt in the region of Heilbronn offers an ideal combination of rural charm and urban quality of life. Located in the heart of Baden-Württemberg, the region is characterised by its excellent traffic connections and diverse opportunities for leisure activities. This role will be based in Glasgow, Scotland and occasionally there may be requirements to travel to our facilities in Neuenstadt am Kocher, Germany or our test and launch facilities in Shetland.
