An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join one of the fastest growing construction businesses in the Midlands.

Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of commercial projects, we are looking for a motivated estimator with a strong background in plumbing and mechanical building services.

The Role

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for plumbing and mechanical services projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and residential sectors.

Working closely with the pre-construction and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in securing new business and ensuring projects are priced efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing detailed cost estimates for plumbing and mechanical building services projects.
  • Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
  • Completing material take-offs and labour calculations.
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Preparing comprehensive tender submissions within strict deadlines.
  • Identifying value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and the internal project teams.
  • Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.
  • Maintaining estimating records and cost databases.
  • Supporting business development through accurate and competitive pricing.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the plumbing and mechanical construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services and commercial plumbing installations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while working to tight deadlines.
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
