About the Company
Our client is a well-established and highly successful construction company operating across the shropshire region and Midlands, with a strong and varied portfolio spanning new build residential, social housing, and commercial projects.
Due to continued growth and ambitious future plans, they are now seeking an accomplished Managing Director to lead the business into its next phase of expansion.
The Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a senior construction leader to take overall responsibility for the strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth of an established and ambitious contractor.
Reporting into the board, you will lead the business across all operational and commercial functions, driving performance across new build, social housing, and commercial projects throughout Shropshire and the Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full operational and commercial responsibility for the business, reporting directly to the board of directors.
- Set and deliver the company's strategic direction, driving growth across new build, social housing, and commercial sectors.
- Lead, develop, and motivate senior management teams across operations, commercial, and support functions.
- Own overall P&L responsibility, ensuring the business meets and exceeds financial targets.
- Build and maintain key relationships with clients, housing associations, partners, and stakeholders across the region.
- Oversee business development activity, identifying and securing new opportunities to support continued growth.
- Ensure robust governance, health & safety standards, and quality control are maintained across all projects.
- Represent the company at board level and act as an ambassador for the business across the Midlands construction market.
Requirements
- Extensive senior leadership experience at Operations Director or Managing Director level within the construction sector.
- Proven track record of leading large construction firms, ideally with turnover in the tens of millions.
- Broad sector experience spanning new build, social housing, and commercial construction projects.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrable P&L and business growth experience.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop senior teams.
- A relevant construction, engineering, or business-related degree is desirable.
- Strong network and reputation within the Midlands construction industry advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence required.
