We are seeking a waking night children’s support worker to provide dedicated overnight support to one child within a family-style home. This role requires careful health vigilance alongside relational warmth. The child’s health needs mean that overnight monitoring and timely, competent responses are essential. Equally important is the ability to provide calm, attuned care so the child experiences night-time as safe and predictable. The Purpose Of The Role

To provide continuous waking night support, ensuring the child’s physical safety and health needs are carefully monitored while also maintaining a nurturing, homely environment. You will understand that children with complex health conditions require both technical competence and emotional steadiness. Your presence will be calm, observant and responsive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous waking supervision throughout the night
  • Monitor and support the child’s health needs in line with training and agreed care plans
  • Carry out delegated healthcare tasks as trained and signed off
  • Recognise and respond promptly to changes in the child’s presentation
  • Escalate concerns appropriately and confidently
  • Maintain accurate, factual and contemporaneous records
  • Support bedtime and early morning routines sensitively
  • Maintain infection control and health and safety standards
  • Participate in health and therapeutic training as required
  • Work collaboratively with the day team and external health professionals
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times

Essential Experience

  • Supporting children with complex health or additional needs
  • Confidence following detailed care plans and clinical guidance
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations
  • Strong written recording skills
  • Emotional resilience and capacity for reflective practice
  • Full driving licence
  • Enhanced DBS clearance

  • Previous waking night experience
  • Experience working alongside community nursing teams
  • Trauma-informed training

Working Pattern
