A fast-growing creative industries startup is preparing to open a new flagship site in Shoreditch in Summer 2026 and is seeking an exceptional General Manager to join the founding team. This business is building a new category within music and creator spaces, combining high-end studios, flexible workspaces, social areas, and a strong member community. The Shoreditch site will be its most ambitious location to date, and this role offers a rare chance to shape, launch, and scale a flagship venue from day one.
Working closely with the Head of Operations, the General Manager will take full ownership of on-site performance, team leadership, member experience, and commercial success through pre-opening, launch, and live operations.
This is the most senior on-site position at the Shoreditch location, with end-to-end accountability for operational excellence, people leadership, and financial performance. The ideal candidate will bring a hospitality-led mindset, strong commercial instincts, and a genuine passion for creative communities. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role suited to someone who enjoys building things from the ground up and setting the standard for how a site operates and feels.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Opening & Launch
- Support mobilisation, setup, and launch of the new Shoreditch site
- Help define operational processes, standards, and ways of working
- Recruit, onboard, and train the founding on-site team
- Ensure systems, suppliers, contractors, and partners are fully ready for opening
- Act as a culture carrier, embedding company values from day one
- Site Operations & Facilities
- Oversee daily operations across studios, workspaces, offices, bars, and shared areas
- Maintain all spaces and equipment to a consistently high standard
- Manage facilities, maintenance, contractors, and service agreements
- Hold full responsibility for fire safety, health & safety, and site compliance
- Own and uphold operational processes that deliver an exceptional member experience
- Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing on-site team
- Create clarity around roles, accountability, and ownership
- Deliver regular one-to-ones, coaching, feedback, and performance reviews
- Support long-term development and progression of team members
- Be a visible, hands-on leader on site
- Member Experience & Community
- Own senior relationships with members across studios, workspace, and offices
- Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive member issues
- Be accountable for member satisfaction, retention, and NPS
- Foster a strong, engaged creative community aligned with the brand’s ethos
- Commercial & Financial Performance
- Own and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets
- Contribute to reporting across operational and commercial KPIs
- Oversee invoicing, credit control, and payment processes
- Support growth initiatives and revenue optimisation alongside central teams
About You
- Proven experience in hospitality, members’ clubs, coworking, flexible workspace, or creative-led environments
- At least 3 years’ experience managing and developing teams
- Strong background in building operations or venue management
- Bar management experience or knowledge preferred
- Comfortable operating across multidisciplinary environments (F&B, studios, events, workspace)
- Experience working in startup or scale-up environments
- Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills
