I'm working with an exciting and growing music investment business that is looking to appoint a Copyright & Royalties Manager to join its team in London.
This is a really interesting opportunity for someone with a strong background in music publishing, royalties, copyright or neighbouring rights who enjoys getting into the detail of how rights and royalty flows actually work.
The role will sit at the heart of the business, helping to assess music catalogues before investment and ensuring royalty collections are accurate, traceable and maximised once deals are completed.
What you'll be doing:
- Conduct pre-deal due diligence across music catalogues, mapping ownership, rights, stakeholders and income streams
- Assess publishing, master and neighbouring-rights income and understand the routes through which royalties are collected
- Work across international collection societies, PROs, mechanical rights organisations and neighbouring-rights societies
- Analyse projected royalty cash flows and identify potential collection risks before investment decisions are made
- Reconcile royalty statements and track actual receipts against projections
- Investigate discrepancies, missing income, incorrect registrations, competing claims and other collection issues
- Work with societies, administrators and internal legal, finance and investment teams to resolve issues and recover missing funds
- Help develop processes and data tools as the company's catalogue portfolio continues to scale
What I'm looking for:
- 3+ years' experience within music publishing administration, royalty accounting, copyright management or neighbouring-rights collection
- Strong ability to interpret complex royalty statements and ownership documentation
- Excellent analytical skills and a real eye for detail
- Experience working with international societies and multi-territory catalogues
- Good understanding of music industry contracts and rights structures
- Experience investigating and resolving royalty discrepancies
- Someone comfortable working across legal, finance and operational teams
- Experience supporting music financing, catalogue sales or lending against music assets would be particularly interesting, but isn't essential.
