The Role

As a Trainee Leakage Technician, you'll learn how to identify, investigate and reduce water loss across the network using a combination of field-based techniques and modern leak detection technology.
Through our structured training programme, mentoring and on-the-job coaching, you'll develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to become a skilled Leakage Detection Technician.
No two days are the same. You could be
- Assisting with leak detection surveys across the water network.
- Learning how to use specialist leak detection equipment.
- Supporting leakage investigations and validation activities.
- Working alongside experienced technicians to locate hidden leaks.
- Contributing to the reduction of water loss and improving network performance.
You'll be part of a high-performing team that works with precision, pride and purpose—knowing your efforts directly improve water efficiency, customer satisfaction and sustainability.
What you'll do
- Assist with leakage detection and survey activities across the water network.
- Learn to operate specialist equipment including correlators, pipe tracers, ground microphones and associated technologies.
- Support step testing, leakage investigations and validation activities.
- Accurately complete timesheets, survey records and leakage reports using digital systems.
- Assist in identifying leak locations to support repair teams.
- Follow all Health & Safety, environmental and company procedures.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain company equipment in good working order.
- Conduct risk assessments and work safely at all times.
- Work closely with Trainers, Team Leaders and Skilled Technicians to build technical knowledge and practical experience.
- Represent Hydrosave professionally and provide excellent customer service.

- Manual Handling or Underground Cable Avoidance training.
- NRSWA accreditation.
