Hydrosave is part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long-term development and career progression.
As a Trainee Leakage Technician, you'll learn how to identify and investigate water leaks using both traditional field techniques and modern technology. Through our structured 18-week TeCas-accredited training programme, you'll develop the knowledge and confidence to work independently within a high-performing team.
No two days are the same — you could be:
- Pinpointing complex underground leaks
- Supporting repair teams with accurate leak locations
- Conducting surveys and validation work
- Using advanced detection equipment in real-world scenarios
You'll play a vital role in reducing water loss and improving network efficiency.
The Role:
- Conduct detailed surveys to identify leak type and location
- Use specialist equipment such as correlators, pipe tracers, ground microphones, and data loggers
- Accurately complete timesheets, survey forms, and leakage reports
- Support repair teams by precisely identifying leak positions
- Take full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance
- Report accidents, incidents, and near misses within required timeframes
- Adhere to company vehicle safety processes and complete daily vehicle checks
- Work closely with the Training Team and Leakage Supervisors to build technical proficiency
- Demonstrate company values and professional behaviours at all times
