Hydrosave is part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long‑term development and career progression.
Hydrosave is seeking a highly visible and proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead and embed a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement across the organisation. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced H&S professional to make a meaningful impact within a leading utility business. Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety & Estates, you will play a key role in delivering our Health & Safety strategy and 5‑year plan, providing expert guidance, governance, and assurance at the highest level. You will work closely with Directorate Leadership Teams and the Executive Leadership Team to drive best‑in‑class health and safety performance.
The Role
- Lead and develop a team of Health & Safety Business Partners and Advisors
- Drive and deliver Hydrosave’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Strategy
- Champion a proactive, zero‑harm culture across all operations
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and investigations to set safety standards
- Provide expert advice, assurance, and governance to senior stakeholders
- Collaborate with risk, audit, and reporting teams to manage business risks
- Ensure thorough incident investigations and implementation of learning
- Maintain and improve H&S Management Systems (including ISO 45001)
- Lead audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage budgets for H&S programmes and initiatives
What You’ll Need
You are an influential and credible health and safety leader with a strong track record of driving cultural change and operational excellence.
Essential
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety role
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with audits, incident investigations, and crisis management
- Proven ability to influence at all levels of an organisation
Desirable
- Management qualification
- Experience in high‑hazard or utility environments
- Demonstrable success in behavioural safety and culture change
