The role This is a development role where you’ll learn the applications-engineering process from experienced colleagues, working with the Hydromarque team in Peterborough. Your development will include learning how to: understand what a customer is really trying to achieve; ask clear questions and gather the technical detail needed to assess an application; select suitable pumps, systems and associated equipment; prepare quotations, tenders and professional customer emails; use Hydromarque’s product information and internal systems accurately; support technical enquiries by phone and email; and take increasing ownership of applications and customer relationships as your knowledge grows. For roughly your first three months, the focus will be induction, observation and learning rather than transactional customer work. At around six months, you should be starting to handle straightforward enquiries with support. Becoming fully confident takes time – typically two to three years – because this is a genuine technical career, not a six-week crash course and a new email signature. As a person, you’ll be approachable, willing to help and comfortable becoming part of a close-knit team. You’ll care about getting the details right for customers and be motivated by making a useful contribution to specific industries such as water and food and beverages as well as general industry.
