We are looking for a motivated and adaptable Hydrographic Surveyor with 2+ years of experience to join our team of professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring and processing data from hydrographic and geophysical projects. When you join us, you will work predominantly on the coasts of the UK and occasionally on interesting and challenging projects internationally. At A-2-Sea, we believe that gaining experience in all aspects of hydrographic surveying is invaluable to your career. Working offshore and at A-2-Sea’s offices based in Romsey, you will be involved in various aspects of a job, from tendering to reporting and calibrations to real-time data QC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and preparation of A-2-Sea survey projects
- Mobilisation and calibration of survey vessels
- Acquisition of hydrographic and geophysical data using a variety of survey equipment
- Data processing and production of deliverables
- Report writing and interpretation of results
- Development of A-2-Sea’s processes and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in a similar position
- A higher education degree in hydrographic surveying (ideally IHO Cat-A accredited) or related science-based subject
- Experience with a variety of survey equipment, including Kongsberg, NORBIT multibeam systems, positioning systems and USBL systems
- Knowledge of survey software for acquisition and processing, including QPS QINSy, Kongsberg SIS, BeamWorx AutoClean, Caris HIPS & SIPS, and Chesapeake SonarWiz
- Ability to lead vessel mobilisations
- A proactive, flexible approach to achieving tasks
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results
- Willing to work away from home for periods of generally 2 to 4 weeks, although periods away from home can vary from a few days to a few weeks
- In possession of a full, valid driving license
