Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting a Hydrographic Data Processor to join our Mount Pearl, Newfoundland or Aberdeen, Scotland Office. Full-Time – Permanent | Job Reference: KRSI-2025-023

We are seeking a Hydrographic Data Processor for the processing of field data and the production of charts and/or maps from data acquired using Kraken Robotics underwater vehicles and sonar systems as part of the Kraken Robotics Services business line. The candidate will be based out of our company’s office in Mount Pearl, NL, Canada or Aberdeen, UK offices. However, someone with +5 years experience may be considered for remote working.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing and Quality Control of navigation, hydrographic, bathymetry and all other survey data sets acquired.
  • QC/QA computations using raw and processed data.
  • Ensure the integrity of project data sets including the incorporation of data sets from third parties such as built data sets.
  • Ensure processing logs are up to date and record offsets used during processing.
  • Review of survey logs compiled by data acquisition crews and processing of acquired data sets using the selected processing software.
  • Maintain archive of survey results/charts/reports for all jobs and store data in short- and long-term facilities, liaising with the Data Manager where necessary.
  • Manage time accordingly to ensure data deliverable timelines and Client delivery dates are met.
  • Perform error analysis, problem and cause finding and make corrections accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant field such as Geomatics, Ocean Mapping, Hydrography, GIS or Geo-informatics.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition, processing and reporting software, minimum 2 years.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of Ocean Mapping, including technologies and methodologies used as well as the collection, processing, and management of data.
  • Experience with underwater vehicles and sonar systems.
  • Ability to process, archive and organize large quantities of Hydrographic data.
  • Knowledge of hydrographic survey methods, bathymetric data management and related areas.
  • Knowledge of sonar data acquisition systems including: Multibeam and single beam echosounders, side scan sonar, Inertial Navigation Systems, Sub-bottom profilers and Synthetic Aperture Sonar.
  • Experience with industry standard software, such as CARIS HIPS and SIPS, AutoChart, AutoCAD, ArcMap, DelphINS, Eiva etc.
  • Conversant with Navigation/Acquisition software in use is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of computer network infrastructure, databases, and data storage technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experienced with using Microsoft applications such as; Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to check and advise of contract variations during field work.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated processing skills along with a proven track record for success.
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to obtain NATO secret clearance.
  • Previous experience at an Offshore Survey or Construction company would be beneficial.
  • Previous offshore experience in a Surveyor or Data Processor would be advantageous.
