Are you a skilled and motivated hydrographic surveyor with a passion for innovation and precision? We’re looking for an individual to join our team and take on an exciting role that involves conducting hydrographic surveys and providing vital support for UK Dredging.
In this position, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the survey process—planning, data collection, post-processing, analysis, and even vessel maintenance. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and reliable hydrographic surveys. Independence, efficiency, and a commitment to safety will be crucial as you work to build strong relationships and drive the continued technical advancement of our business unit.
Core Hours:Monday to Friday
Location:Based in Cardiff, with flexibility to travel across the UK as required. Primary work region: South Wales.
- Conduct navigation and dredge-related surveys (Multibeam and Singlebeam) for ABP, UKD, and external clients, including data collection, processing, and reporting.
- Perform additional surveys like quay wall inspections.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of the UKD survey vessels.
- Support dredging operations with technical input.
- Collaborate with Harbour Masters and UK Hydrographic Office on data delivery.
- Help with tendering and commercial work using survey data and site knowledge.
- Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with company policies.
- Install hardware/software to support surveys and dredging operations.
- Promote effective communication, engagement, and compliance across the fleet.
- Basic experience with single beam and multi-beam hydrographic surveying methods (minimum of 2 years).
- Full driving license.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities under pressure.
- Willing to work flexible hours and travel across the UK and overseas.
- Degree in marine or survey-related field.
- Powerboat qualification and small boat handling experience.
- Experience with multibeam sonars.
- Familiarity with survey software (e.g., QPS, Hypack, AutoCAD, Trimble, Valeport).
