My client, a well known Retail business, is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in identity modernisation, particularly around moving away from legacy directory services and helping shape a more secure, scalable, cloud first environment. This is an initial 6 month contract, Inside of IR35 and requires 2 days per week on site in Hatfield. We're looking for a hands‐on Infrastructure Engineer to support a hybrid Microsoft environment, with a strong focus on BAU, ticket resolution, and operational stability. This is not a senior/architect-level role, we need someone who enjoys getting stuck into day‐to‐day support, resolving issues, and keeping systems running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide BAU / 2nd-3rd line support across Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Manage and resolve tickets, incidents, and service requests in line with SLAs
  • Administer Azure resources via the Azure portal (VMs, networking, storage, identity)
  • Support Active Directory / Entra ID, including users, groups, and access management
  • Troubleshoot issues across Windows Server, M365, and cloud infrastructure
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and admin tasks
  • Support Intune / endpoint management where required
  • Work closely with service desk and wider IT teams to ensure smooth operations

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in a BAU / support‐led infrastructure role
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure (portal‐based admin)
  • Solid PowerShell skills (scripting, automation, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory / Entra ID
  • Experience working in ticket‐driven environments (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)
  • Confident troubleshooting and resolving day‐to‐day infrastructure issues

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Intune / Autopilot / endpoint management
  • Exposure to basic networking (DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
