Base pay range Data Engineer (Contract) 📍 Location: London (2-3 days onsite) 📅 Contract until: 31 December 2026 💷 PAYE via Umbrella 🔐 Security: BPSS eligibility required The Role We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a high‑performing data team, delivering scalable and reliable data solutions within a complex enterprise environment. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone passionate about building robust data platforms and driving real business value from data. Key Responsibilities * Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ELT workflows on Databricks, following Medallion architecture. * Analyse data requirements and apply advanced data modelling techniques (including Data Vault) and data quality frameworks. * Collaborate with data architects, analysts, product managers, and QA teams to deliver trusted data sets. * Document data flows, transformations, and processes to support knowledge sharing and ongoing operations. * Contribute to solution design, code reviews, and continuous platform improvement within Agile teams. * Drive high‑quality, high‑performance data outcomes with a problem‑solving mindset. Skills & Experience * Strong hands‑on experience with SQL, Python, and data integration/ingestion patterns. * Proven expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, notebooks, and modern data warehousing concepts. * Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica IICS and Azure Data Factory. * Solid background working with Azure cloud platforms (preferred). * Experience integrating and modelling insurance or reinsurance domain data (Lloyd's/specialty market experience highly desirable). * Strong knowledge of on‑prem and cloud databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server). * Familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) and tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps. * Understanding of data security considerations and tooling within modern data platforms. * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach. Nice to Have * Professional certifications in Azure and/or Databricks.
