Hydro Group manufactures bespoke subsea cable and connector assembly engineering for the oil and gas, marine renewable energy and defence industries. Our products are precision-engineered to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. Objectives / Scope As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the cable manufacturing machines to produce components and cables as per the drawing requirements. You will continually monitor the progress of the manufacturing process to ensure our products are of the highest quality and to our customers’ requirements. You will be customer focused and from time to time you will be required to liaise with our customers during visits to the factory floor. You will be organised with proven multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise. The Machine Operator will also be a self-starter, have a Mechanical understanding and a passion for problem solving and making improvements. In this role you will have a high level of flexibility (overtime and night shifts will be a requirement of the role), commitment and the ability to tackle multiple projects and priorities. You will collaborate with your Team Leader, other Machine Operators and the QHSE team, to ensure all aspects of quality, clear and timely communication and QHSE responsibilities are met. Main Responsibilities Set up and operate cable manufacture machines to produce components and cables as per job sheet specifications adhering to the plan and timeframe. Maintain accurate recordings as per work instructions. Monitor progress during manufacture process and report any inconsistencies or failures. Train new staff on machinery as and when required. Communicate verbally with customers during factory visits. Maintain close contact with the Product Assurance Team on all aspect of quality. Operate a “good housekeeping” policy on a continuous basis. Assist with training and job or product awareness for other staff within the Group. Maintain the Group management behaviours practices and equal opportunity policy. Comply with any environmental responsibilities as identified by the Group and communicated by your line manager that are relevant within your department. Qualifications/ Experience Mechanical experience or experience in a similar position desired Skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Pro-active decision making.
