Lead a team of specialist trades based at our in-house workshop as they support our Major Refurbishments. Work in one of the largest workshops in Tasmania, home to amazing Hydropower kit. Lead a team of passionate people who take pride in their workshop culture.

Who are you? You bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to this role. At the Hydro Workshop, you’ll use your heavy machining and project management skills to lead teams, coordinate projects, and achieve outstanding results. Thriving in fast-paced environments, you excel at balancing competing priorities while fostering collaboration and teamwork. Known for driving positive change, you inspire those around you to deliver their best. Your practical workshop experience, combined with strong planning and scheduling skills, makes you an ideal fit. Proficiency in MS Office is essential, with experience in Microsoft Project, SAP, and AutoCAD highly regarded. Qualifications in a relevant mechanical discipline, such as a Certificate III or IV, and/or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management, will be highly valued.
About the role: To put it simply… you will use your technical experience to lead the team at our Cambridge Facility in support of the delivery of our Major Works refurbishment program, replacing hydropower assets that have been operating for over 100 years!
As Team Leader at the Cambridge Workshop you will be:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of workshop activities including resourcing to meet scheduled deliverables, including the identification and engagement of external resources and contractors as needed.
- Managing financial performance against workshop and project budgets, providing feedback to planning groups as needed.
- Working closely with a range of stakeholders including the broader Major Works, Production Operations, and Assets & Infrastructure teams.
- Coaching and leading the workshop team members by building succession plans and taking responsibility for the development of your team members.
- Identifying new areas and opportunities of growth for the Cambridge Workshop to continue to add value to Hydro Tasmania’s program of work.
