We are looking for a Tendering Engineer to join our System Build Projects team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing future business by preparing high-quality, competitive tenders for complex engineering projects.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers, you will help turn opportunities into successful project awards.

About the role: As a Tendering Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission.

You will review client specifications, develop technical and commercial proposals, coordinate input from multiple departments, and ensure tender submissions are delivered accurately and on time.

No two days are exactly the same.

As a Tendering Engineer, you'll be at the heart of the business, collaborating with a range of departments to develop competitive and technically robust tender submissions.

This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse projects, providing exposure to engineering, commercial, and project delivery functions within the business.

A typical day will involve working closely with

  • External Sales teams to understand customer requirements and opportunities.
  • Engineering teams to develop technical solutions and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Procurement to obtain supplier quotations and cost information.
  • Workshop Operations to understand delivery requirements and project feasibility.
  • Customers directly to clarify requirements and develop opportunities.

You'll bring together inputs from across the business to compile and submit professional tender packages for customer review.

Following submission, you'll engage with customers through review and follow-up meetings, helping to strengthen relationships, develop opportunities, and ultimately secure order coverage for the System Build business.

This is a fast-paced role where priorities can shift quickly, requiring strong organisation, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Experience, Qualifications and Competencies We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience in a Tendering, Proposals, Estimating, Commercial, or Engineering role.
  • A strong understanding of engineering and project-based environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • HNC/HND/Degree in electro/mechanical engineering, manufacturing management is desirable or significant suitable experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Review client enquiries, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, pricing models, and tender submissions.
  • Coordinate input from engineering, procurement, operations, and project teams.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Identify commercial and technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure tender submissions are compliant, accurate, and submitted within required timescales.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and presentation activities where required.
  • Maintain tender documentation and support the continuous improvement of tendering processes.
