We are focused on supporting the energy transition through our work in the oil and gas, renewable energy, general industrial and marine industries worldwide. We are recruiting for a Business Systems Engineer to join our IT & Business Systems team based in our Aberdeen Headquarters. This role will support and enhance key platforms including ERP, databases, reporting tools, and business applications. You will play a key role in delivering reliable system support and lifecycle management, working closely with stakeholders to drive efficient, data-led processes across the business.
About the Role: This position sits within a small, experienced Business Systems team and combines operational support with system improvement and project delivery. You will work closely with users across the business, taking ownership of issues, enhancements, and change activity, while also contributing to a significant ERP upgrade programme. This role will suit someone who enjoys working close to the business, understands both technical detail and business process, and wants to see their work make a tangible impact.
Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies
- Clear and demonstrable experience working with ERP systems, databases, and reporting tools
- Strong technical capability in business systems development, support, and maintenance
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working within a structured Business Systems or IT environment
- Degree-qualified or equivalent practical experience
Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience supporting ERP upgrades or system enhancement projects
- Background in manufacturing or engineering-led environments
- Experience with system testing, integrations, and change control
- Experience supporting and training users through system change
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support, develop, and maintain ERP, reporting, and database solutions
- Investigate and resolve ERP, integration, and reporting issues
- Configure, test, and deploy system changes and enhancements
- Contribute to ERP lifecycle management, including upgrades and improvements
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and define practical solutions
- Produce and maintain system and process documentation
- Execute change control and support system testing activities
- Provide user support and training as required
- Support scheduled system activities (e.g. reporting, month-end processes), including occasional out-of-hours work
