The Graduate Engineer role is intended to develop a skilled and knowledgeable engineer capable of fulfilling various roles at Hydrasun. The exact nature of the final role may be revised to suit aptitude, capability, and organisational need. It is envisaged that, time and operational constraints allowing, the Graduate Engineer will spend time in various departments and roles at PMD over a period to develop skills, knowledge, and capability with a view to taking on an engineering role at an appropriate time. Regular review meetings will be held to ensure the Graduate Engineer is continuing to develop and that the operational needs of the business are met.
At a suitable point, depending on progress and achieving the required standard, it is envisaged the role would develop into a Mechanical Engineer position working in the Engineering Team in Aviemore, supporting Engineering Design activities and also supporting the wider team with timely responses to Engineering and Manufacturing queries.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Contribute to our HSEQ culture.
- All safety rules and regulations must be conformed to at all times.
- All equipment should be handled/stored in a safe manner and in such a way that no damage occurs.
- Work area should be kept clean and tidy at all times and all spillages should be dealt with at the earliest opportunity.
- Work to Approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Work to approved processes.
- Ensure competencies in all required areas are met to allow timely progression.
- Support Engineering Design Activities to ensure Customers' Requirements are met.
- Create compliant 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and design calculations to all required standards.
- Create Bills of Materials and Structures & Routings using our ERP system.
- Launch jobs into Manufacturing post technical approval.
- Answer technical queries from internal colleagues.
- Raise and respond to NCRs as required.
Qualifications
- Essential: Degree in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical Bias).
- Desirable: BEng Honours Degree.
Experience
- Some previous/current work experience.
- Led or contributed on an academic/practical project would be desirable.
Skills and Behaviours
- Essential: Excellent attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, ability to work in a team, good communication skills, keen to develop personal knowledge and skills.
- Desirable: Knowledge of materials, good organisational skills, exposure to manual or CNC machine setting, operating or programming, CAD/CAM exposure.
