Senior Quality Engineer - Performance in Manchester

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to lead and support quality assurance activities across our fabrication, welding and non-destructive testing operations. This is a hands-on, proactive role suited to an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment and is passionate about maintaining the highest levels of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. As a key member of the Quality team, you'll ensure adherence to AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and NADCAP standards while driving robust root cause analysis, process improvement, and right-first-time culture throughout production. You'll work closely with senior leadership, production teams, and customers to maintain our reputation for exceptional quality and reliability. Act as a technical authority for all quality-related matters within fabrication, welding, and assembly operations. Conduct and oversee FAIRs, PPAP, APQP and other customer deliverables in line with aerospace requirements. Manage supplier quality performance, including audits, assessments, and corrective actions. Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa, etc). Support new product introduction (NPI) from a quality standpoint, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation. Lead quality improvement projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce defects. Provide mentorship and support to Quality Inspectors and Technicians. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to uphold quality standards and customer satisfaction. Ensure all quality documentation, procedures, and records are accurate and accessible. Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and provide clear reports to senior management. Proven experience as a Quality Engineer (ideally 5+ years) within aerospace fabrication or welding environments. Practical understanding of fabrication and welding processes. Confident in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including with customers and regulatory bodies. Proficiency with MS Office and quality management systems (Q-Pulse or similar). Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
