Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge and an opportunity to work in a fast paced predominantly aerospace supplier with a growing orderbook and portfolio of clients? We are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer with industry knowledge and aerospace experience to work as part of our quality team within our sheet metal and assembly business at our Dukinfield (Cheshire) site.

About the opportunity

As the Quality Engineer, you will play an integral part in the investigation and responding to non-conformances, analyse quality data, proactively working with colleagues to improve quality, drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop and maintain standard work sheets, assist the Quality Manager in maintaining calibration equipment and devices, carry out daily calibration checks, ensure company approvals remain in place (ISO14001, Nadcap etc) and carry out internal and external audits. You will build on your industry knowledge and experience, keeping up to date with best practice and participate in internal and external training. You will also work closely with the quality departments from other Hyde business units, clients and suppliers as part of the wider aerospace supply chain. As a key member of the quality team, you may be required to work offsite and act up in the absence of the quality providing a range of quality reports or other updates to the senior leadership team as required.

Preferred Skills

  • Must be committed to working safely and comply with the 5S standards in place.
  • Minimum 3 years experience (QE) required and must be within a manufacturing environment, ideally sheet metal or assembly.
  • Ideal candidate will be a timed served inspector (ability to read drawings, specifications and determine / understand if manufactured items conform).
  • Key process knowledge:
    • Manufacturing methods from material to finished products.
    • Aerospace / defence standards of work.
    • The structure / workings of a QMS / IMS.
    • Various inspection methods (hand tools, Keyence, CMM).
    • Non-conformance / MRB.
    • Concession raising.
    • FAIR / FAIR preparation (AS9100).
    • APQP/PPAP.
  • Personal skills: problem solving, effective decision making, waste elimination, continuous improvement identification, pragmatic and solution based forward thinking, excellent communication.
  • Must have good team working ethic, be highly proactive and motivated.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills.
  • IT literate, in particular SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Commercially and strategically aware.
  • The ability to work flexible hours should the business need arise.
