We are recruiting for an Assistant Construction Manager to support the delivery of a new-build £30m distribution centre in Newport. This is a site-based role offering genuine progression into senior site leadership. You will work closely with the Construction Manager and Senior Construction Manager, supporting the coordination of subcontractors, managing work packages, driving programme on site and ensuring health, safety and quality standards are maintained. This role suits someone currently operating as a Section Manager, Senior Site Engineer or Assistant Site Manager on industrial or large commercial projects who is ready to step further into full construction management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day site delivery across civils, steel frame, envelope, fit-out and external works
- Coordinate subcontractors and monitor progress against programme
- Assist with short-term programming and look-ahead schedules
- Enforce health & safety standards and site compliance
- Manage quality inspections and snagging processes
- Support logistics planning and sequencing of works
- Attend subcontractor and progress meetings
- Assist with design coordination and issue resolution
- Maintain accurate site records and reporting
Key Requirements
- Main contractor background
- Experience on industrial, logistics or large commercial projects
- Strong understanding of build sequencing
- Confident communicator able to work across multiple trades
