The Project
You will be joining a Tier One contractor on a major 35MW data centre campus at Staples Corner. The scheme is being delivered over three phases across three years, with an Β£80m build value and Β£100m MEP value, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to see a complex project through multiple stages.
The Role
As an Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring engineering accuracy, quality, and compliance across the project. You will be responsible for setting out, QA, and technical control of works, either acting in a checking capacity or as the primary site engineer, depending on the package. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, detail, and working closely with site teams and the supply chain.
What You Will Be Doing
- Engineering & Setting Out
- Setting out works and maintaining dimensional control within specified tolerances
- Establishing and regularly checking site control
- Preparing sketches and engineering records
- Interpreting drawings, specifications, and schedules, identifying errors or clashes and raising RFIs
- Maintaining survey equipment and calibration records
- Quality Assurance
- Managing QA processes across your scope of works
- Completing quality check sheets and inspection records
- Producing and maintaining accurate as-built drawings and documentation
- Reviewing and implementing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and RWA procedures
- Raising and managing NCRs where required
- Ensuring works are completed to the required standard and level of detail
- Project & Site Support
- Providing technical support to overcome site issues and respond to queries
- Supporting temporary works coordination and providing information for designs and checks
- Assisting subcontractors with installation and coordination
- Maintaining accurate site records, including photos and progress notes
- Contributing to KPI data and progress reporting
- Working closely with site management to support programme delivery
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Working in line with project, client, quality, environmental, and health & safety requirements
- Taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others on site
What We Are Looking For
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Minimum 2+ years experience working as an Engineer on construction projects
- Strong setting-out and QA background
- Comfortable reading and coordinating drawings and specifications
- Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office
- Methodical, organised, and detail-focused
- Proactive, collaborative, and able to work under pressure
