Our client is a leading UK commercial property maintenance and refurbishment contractor, headquartered near Peterborough. It delivers reactive repairs, planned maintenance, full refurbishments, roofing, plumbing, electrical, painting, decorating, and landscaping services across London, the Home Counties, and East Anglia to keep more than 200 clients' properties safe, compliant, and operational. Due to an increase in workload, the company is looking to add a Facilities Project Manager to the team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Managing a broad portfolio of properties.
- Dealing with clients on a daily basis, picking up enquiries and feeding them back into the office to the relevant department (Interiors, AC, Plumbing and Electrical or subcontract).
- Ensuring quotes are turned around in a timely manner.
- Creating accurate quotations, ensuring approved works are delivered to client requirements.
- Submitting all RAMS, permits, and access permits in time via internal admin.
- Business development with current and potential new clients around Peterborough and Cambridge areas.
- Flexible role within office, client sites, and working from home.
This is a high level of workload, proactive and requires a client-focused person backed by office support. Technical knowledge in building compliance (FRAs, water tests, fire alarm testing & fire doors certification) is essential. Understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and building fabric would be ideal although internal resources are available to survey & quote.
Key Personal Characteristics Needed:
- Client-focused & excellent communicator: daily client interaction, picking up enquiries, building relationships, and feeding back accurately; strong verbal/written skills for enquiries, quotes, and stakeholder updates.
- Proactive & organised: high workload demands initiative; quick turnaround of quotes, timely submission of RAMS/permits/access docs, and forward-planning without constant supervision.
- Detail-oriented & accurate: creating precise quotations, ensuring works meet client specs, handling compliance docs correctly, and maintaining high standards under pressure.
- Commercially aware & business-minded: spotting opportunities for business development with existing/new clients; using key negotiation skills for quotes and client wins.
- Technically knowledgeable & practical: solid understanding of building compliance (e.g., Fire Risk Assessments, water/fire alarm testing, fire doors), plus good grasp of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and building fabric even if supported by internal surveys/teams.
- Adaptable & flexible: comfortable switching between office, client sites, and home working; willing to handle variable hours/locations in a demanding role.
- Resilient & calm under pressure: manages high volume, urgent enquiries, and multiple priorities while staying client-focused and positive.
- Team player with leadership leanings: coordinates internal departments (Interiors, AC, Plumbing, Electrical, subbies) and leverages office support effectively.
This suits someone outgoing, reliable, technically minded, and entrepreneurial; essentially a "go-to" person who owns client relationships and drives compliance/satisfaction while growing the business locally.
