Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
- Handle guest and employee enquiries efficiently, providing prompt follow‑up and reporting or handing over unresolved problems to the next shift engineer.
- Record consumption of gas, water and electricity daily, and try to conserve energy without compromising customer comfort.
- Be flexible throughout the working day to meet demands from guests.
- Work closely with other employees in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of guests.
- Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Monitor and request needed parts and consumables from your manager.
- Ensure cleanliness of all work areas and protection of walls and floors while work is being carried out.
- Ensure effective energy conservation is always observed.
- Ensure fire, life and safety systems are operational.
- Perform emergency procedures relating to fire, life and safety, including tending to fire alarms and lift rescue.
- Ensure timely completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks (PPMs).
- Report any abnormal conditions noticed at any time in line with safety‑related equipment to your manager.
- Assist other engineers when required and work as a team.
- Diagnose malfunctions in systems and components and rectify defects.
- Recognise and identify hazards that require reporting to your manager.
- Use and maintain a variety of power tools and testing equipment.
About you
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer with a strong commitment to maintaining high operational standards and supporting exceptional guest experiences. Previous experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role within hospitality is highly advantageous, with hotel or resort experience considered a strong asset. A hands‑on approach, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently during shifts are essential. You will be highly organised, detail‑oriented and capable of prioritising tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a professional and service‑focused attitude when interacting with guests and colleagues.
