Summary: Night Assistant Manager at Hyatt Regency Birmingham, a contemporary four‑star hotel in the heart of Birmingham, adjacent to Symphony Hall, ICC, Brindley Place and the Bullring shopping centre. The hotel features 319 guest rooms and suites, 12 event spaces, a modern restaurant, a pub‑style bar and a spa with an indoor pool and fitness centre. This role involves a 40‑hour week on a 5‑day‑out‑of‑7 shift rota, working nights from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including weekends.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee the smooth running of all hotel operations throughout the night.
- Assist the Management Team in the effective operation of the Front Office Department and outlets, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and adherence to hotel standards.
- Monitor occupancies to avoid overbookings.
- Train and develop the team, fostering an inclusive and positive work environment.
- Ensure VIPs, World of Hyatt members, and Regency Club Rooms are blocked and inspected according to hotel policy.
- Check in all VIP guests as per hotel policy.
- Handle guest complaints in accordance with hotel policy and report all complaints to management.
You will be expected to work 40 hours per week, five days out of seven, on a shift rota basis. Night shifts will run from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including weekends.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to all guests, ensuring their needs are fully met.
- You should have a sound knowledge of the local area, including restaurants and shopping destinations within the city.
- You should have previous experience in a similar role, with good knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera and Reserve.
- Strong IT and communication skills are essential.
- As an organized and outgoing individual, you will remain calm and effective when handling diverse and challenging situations.
- You must be able to work under pressure, diffuse conflict, and respond quickly to changing guest demands and requirements.
