Duties and responsibilities related to the Assistant Finance Manager role:
- Support the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel, ensuring processes and controls are followed in line with company policies and relevant UK regulations.
- Supervise core accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, reconciliations, credit control, and balance sheet reviews.
- Assist department heads in monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring expenditure is appropriately authorised.
- Provide financial and administrative support across the business, helping teams understand revenue performance, costs, and financial reporting information.
- Support the Director of Finance in the smooth running of the Finance Department, including overseeing operations in their absence when required.
- Assist with month-end processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and the preparation of financial information for review.
- Prepare team rotas and ensure timesheets are completed and submitted accurately and on time, in line with operational requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and business planning activities throughout the year.
About you:
- A qualification in Accounting or Finance, such as a bachelor’s degree or ACCA qualification, would be highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in an Assistant Finance Manager, Finance Supervisor, or similar supervisory role within hotel finance or hospitality accounting is preferred, ideally gained in an upscale or luxury hotel environment.
- Experience managing or supporting a team would be advantageous.
- The ideal candidate will have proven experience using Opera PMS and Micros systems, with a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- They should also bring strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential risks proactively, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
