THE ROLE

As Night Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing a warm, professional, and efficient service to guests throughout the overnight period, while supporting the smooth and secure operation of the hotel.

Reporting to the Night Manager and Front Office Manager, you will be a key member of the overnight team, responsible for welcoming late arrivals, assisting guests with their requirements, managing overnight departures, completing relevant Front Office and night audit procedures, and ensuring the hotel is fully prepared for the day ahead.

You will deliver exceptional guest service throughout the night, maintaining a calm and professional approach while ensuring all operational, financial, safety, and security standards are consistently met.

  • Provide friendly, professional, and personalised service to guests throughout the night.
  • Welcome and check in late-arriving guests, ensuring a smooth and efficient arrival experience.
  • Process overnight departures and assist guests with any requirements before they leave the hotel.
  • Act as a key point of contact for guest enquiries, requests, and concerns during the overnight shift.
  • Handle guest complaints and service recovery situations professionally, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Recognise VIP, long-stay, and returning guests and ensure they receive appropriate levels of service.
  • Maintain a welcoming, clean, and professional Front Office and lobby environment throughout the night.
  • Assist guests with local information, hotel facilities, transportation, and other requests as required.
  • Supporting Overnight Operations
  • Complete all Front Office procedures accurately and in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Carry out room allocations and amendments where required, ensuring accurate information is maintained within the system.
  • Monitor arrivals, departures, room status, and guest requests throughout the shift.
  • Complete cash handling and payment procedures accurately and securely.
  • Support the Night Audit process and ensure all required reports and reconciliations are completed correctly.
  • Prepare the Front Office for the following day's operations, ensuring all relevant information is clearly communicated.
  • Complete effective handovers to the morning team, highlighting outstanding guest requests, incidents, or operational matters.
  • Work closely with other overnight colleagues to ensure the hotel operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Safety, Security & Compliance
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of hotel security throughout the overnight shift.
  • Follow all hotel health and safety, fire safety, and security procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and safeguarding concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks of the Front Office, lobby, and public areas as required.
  • Report and document any incidents, maintenance issues, or security concerns accurately.
  • Ensure guest and hotel information is handled confidentially and in accordance with company policies.
  • Support compliance with Hyatt and RBH brand standards at all times.
  • Teamwork & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with the Night Team and colleagues across all hotel departments.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication during shift handovers.
  • Support colleagues during busy periods and assist with wider hotel requirements where necessary.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a professional and supportive team environment.
  • Represent the hotel and its values positively at all times.

  • Previous experience within a Front Office, Reception, Guest Services, or hospitality environment.

  • Confidence in handling guest enquiries, requests, and concerns independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Good knowledge of hotel operations, health & safety, and security procedures.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to the wider hotel team.
  • Experience with Opera Cloud or a similar hotel management system would be advantageous.
