Duties and responsibilities related to the Housekeeping Manager role
Reporting to the Director of Rooms, the Housekeeping Manager plays a key role in leading the housekeeping operation and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest care across the hotel. This role oversees the daily running of the housekeeping department, supporting the team to deliver consistently excellent standards in guest rooms, public areas, and back of house spaces. Responsibilities include managing daily operations, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring rooms are prepared to meet business needs and guest expectations.
A key part of the role is leading, training, coaching, and motivating the housekeeping team, creating a positive working environment where colleagues feel supported, engaged, and empowered to perform at their best. The Housekeeping Manager ensures brand standards, cleaning procedures, health and safety requirements, and hygiene standards are consistently followed.
Regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back of house areas will be carried out to identify opportunities for improvement and take prompt action where required. The role also involves monitoring guest feedback and working closely with the team to maintain and enhance guest satisfaction.
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing stock levels for linen, amenities, and cleaning supplies, ensuring the department operates efficiently while maintaining appropriate controls. The role also supports departmental planning, productivity, rotas, and cost management in line with hotel requirements. Close collaboration with Front Office, Engineering, and other hotel departments is essential to ensure a smooth guest journey, effective communication, and timely resolution of any operational issues.
