Farnham Road Hospital provides high-quality inpatient mental health care across three adult wards and a Health-Based Place of Safety, serving our local community with compassion and expertise. Main duties of the job

  • Support patients with personal care, ensuring dignity, privacy, and respect at all times
  • Assist with meals and encourage good nutrition and hydration
  • Promote independence where possible while providing appropriate support
  • Carry out and accurately record regular physical and mental health observations, including mood, behaviour, and vital signs
  • Promptly report any changes or concerns to the nursing or medical team
  • Encourage patient participation in therapeutic, social, and recreational activities
  • Contribute to a positive, recovery-focused ward environment
  • Build and maintain professional, therapeutic relationships with patients
  • Engage in meaningful conversations to provide emotional reassurance and support
  • Support the safety and security of the ward in line with observation levels and trust policies
  • Assist in managing patient distress or crisis situations, including the use of de-escalation techniques
  • Accurately document care provided, observations, and incidents using electronic record systems
  • Ensure all documentation complies with trust policies, confidentiality, and information governance standards
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, and psychologists
