Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist -part time in Chertsey

Runneymede and Spelthorne Community Mental Health Recovery (CMHRS) Team is looking for a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with HCPC registration. In our CMHRS we see adults with complex, severe, and enduring mental health problems. The principles and philosophy of care are based on the recovery model and NICE evidence‑based interventions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist psychology services for this client group.

They will work closely with other psychologists in the team and with multidisciplinary team members and other teams, e.g. the Home Treatment Team and Inpatient services. They will lead on complex and challenging cases while developing expertise within an area of specialism. They will complete assessments and assign clients to specific care pathways and offer evidence‑based psychological interventions within each care pathway. The role also involves supervising junior psychologists, trainees, and mental health practitioners. They will receive regular supervision from a principal or consultant psychologist.

Part‑time role: 22.5 hours, expect to work at our main office in Chertsey and a satellite base at Staines. Subject to reasonable adjustments in respect of any disability, candidates must possess a valid driving licence and be able to drive and have unrestricted use of a car or motorcycle for work at all times, including community‑based work.

• Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work, maintaining high standards in line with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, and Trust policies and procedures.
• Act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005); be aware of and implement safeguarding adult and child protection policies, procedures and legislation.
• Carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to support people with specific and complex needs.
• Actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, act as an advocate, and ensure proper regard for dignity, choice, self‑esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
• Work creatively to adapt verbal and written communication to meet the needs of people using our services.
• Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans for people with complex needs.
