About H.W. Martin Safety Fencing Limited
H W Martin Safety Fencing Limited (est. 1987) provides specialist vehicle restraint system services to the highways industry. Our client base includes National Highways, local authorities and the UK’s major construction companies.
Teams will be primarily deployed from our operating base at J18 on the M4, near Bristol but the successful candidates will be required to travel to various areas of the country to deliver safety fencing works. We typically deploy 2-man teams and build on this in a modular way to increase team size appropriate to the project as necessary. The advertised position is ideally aimed at 2-man teams, already established in the VRS sector but individuals may apply.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Working as a motivated part of the team.
- Able to effectively communicate and work with others in a team setting.
- Working within framework of safe systems of work and demonstrate exemplary attitude to safe working.
- Must be focussed on all safety, environmental and quality issues on the construction site.
- Operate plant and machinery in a safe and responsible manner and strictly in accordance with training schedule.
- Ability to work to deadlines without cutting corners.
- Autonomous thinking and decision-making skills within structure of managed work area.
- Complete all written documentation as required.
Experience and Qualifications required:
- The successful candidate will be experienced in working within the highways construction sector.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card essential. Other qualifications e.g. SSSTS, CPCS etc desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss, define and communicate ideas.
- Knowledge of and training in main VRS systems prevalent in the UK.
- Enthusiastic with an ambition to learn, share skills and develop.
- Driving Licence.
Rates of pay:
- Barrier Foreman: £200 (Days), £225 (Local Nights), £220 (Local Days Away), £250 (Nights Away), £65 (Weekend Uplift), £100 (Bank Hol Uplift)
- Lead Erector: £180 (Days), £205 (Local Nights), £200 (Local Days Away), £230 (Nights Away), £65 (Weekend Uplift), £100 (Bank Hol Uplift)
- Second Man: £165 (Days), £190 (Local Nights), £185 (Local Days Away), £210 (Nights Away), £65 (Weekend Uplift), £100 (Bank Hol Uplift)
- Labourer: £140 (Days), £170 (Local Nights), £150 (Local Days Away), £180 (Nights Away), £65 (Weekend Uplift), £100 (Bank Hol Uplift)
- Half Yard: £60 (Days), £60 (Local Nights), £60 (Local Days Away), £60 (Nights Away), N/A (Weekend Uplift), N/A (Bank Hol Uplift)
