We’re recruiting a Senior VAT Manager to join a growing UK-based tax team delivering VAT compliance, VAT accounting and advisory across a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value, technically challenging VAT matters, supporting both internal stakeholders, while helping shape VAT strategy, processes and team development.

The role

You’ll lead VAT advisory and compliance activities, oversee the VAT compliance cycle, manage relationships with tax authorities and act as a trusted technical expert on UK and cross-border VAT matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide VAT advisory support on complex domestic and international transactions
• Oversee VAT compliance, reporting and month‑end VAT accounting processes
• Lead VAT projects including audits, HMRC enquiries and disclosures
• Monitor and interpret changes in VAT legislation and case law
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders and clients
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
• Support onboarding of new UK and non‑UK entities
• Manage, coach and develop junior team members
• Contribute to business development initiatives

About you

• Qualified accountant or tax professional (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent)
• Significant experience in VAT compliance and advisory roles
• Strong technical VAT knowledge with pragmatic commercial judgement
• Experience with VAT returns, filings and VAT accounting
• Strong Excel and financial systems experience (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
• Confident communicator with strong presentation and stakeholder skills
• Proven leadership and people‑management capability
