An established UK-based wholesaler operating within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is a key role responsible for producing accurate monthly management accounts, supporting group reporting requirements, and providing meaningful commercial insight to help drive business performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of the month-end process and management reporting, while also playing a key part in maintaining strong financial control across the business. You will additionally manage and develop a small finance team, ensuring a high standard of accuracy, efficiency, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process within tight reporting deadlines
  • Produce monthly board packs, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Provide detailed variance analysis and clear commercial commentary
  • Prepare group reporting submissions for international consolidation
  • Own intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Partner with Sales and Purchasing teams on margin analysis and cost control
  • Take responsibility for stock accounting, valuation, and reconciliations
  • Support external audit, VAT, and tax processes
  • Review, improve, and maintain robust financial controls and processes
  • Manage and develop Assistant Accountants and Accounts Assistants

About You

  • Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Strong experience producing management accounts in a multi-entity or group environment
  • Solid technical understanding of financial and management reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to turn data into actionable insight
  • Confident communicator, able to work closely with non-finance stakeholders
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to deadlines

Desirable Experience

  • Background in wholesale, distribution, or product-based businesses
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
  • Previous people management or team leadership experience
