HW Finance are pleased to have been exclusively retained by Blackhall Engineering, a successful family owned business, in their search for a Financial Controller to join the team in Huddersfield. Blackhall Engineering design, manufacture and supply premium quality valves to diverse sectors including defence, power, water, oil & gas. The business is focused on sustainability and actively supports the UK strategy of decarbonization by increasing the life span of products. They have a clear strategy in place over the coming years to diversify their offering, and the Financial Controller will be a key hire to support them with this growth.

About the role:

This is a No.1 in Finance role, leading and developing a small finance team and managing day-to-day operations of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production of monthly management accounts
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Maintain internal financial controls and compliance
  • Cashflow management and planning
  • Manage banking relationships and other external relationships
  • Stock and Gross Margin reporting and variance analysis
  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Process improvement
  • Supporting the commercial and operational teams
  • Ad hoc project and systems work

About You:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Manufacturing background
  • Hands on Financial Reporting/Management Accounting experience
  • Prior management/mentoring experience – comfortable supporting junior team members
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills – ability to work with and support non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to drive change and improve processes
  • Desire to be actively involved in the business’s growth
