Are you an ambitious, commercially minded qualified accountant with experience in M&A, corporate finance, financial due diligence or transaction services? We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a growing, specialist consultancy operating within the UK real estate sector. Working with some of the industry’s most active acquisitive businesses, the company supports clients throughout the acquisition lifecycle, from financial and operational due diligence through to post-acquisition integration and value creation. This is an opportunity to move away from a large, highly corporate environment and take on a genuinely influential role within a small, collaborative team. You will work closely with senior leadership and play an important part in shaping the future growth and development of the business.
The role
You will take a hands-on role across financial due diligence, transaction analysis, financial modelling and post-acquisition value creation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with internal project leads, clients and external advisers, you will manage multiple acquisition-related projects and provide clear, commercially focused financial insight. Your responsibilities will include:
- Analysing historical financial information and operational performance of acquisition targets
- Leading and managing financial due diligence workstreams from initial review through to completion
- Building and maintaining financial models, including P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow forecasts
- Assessing financial performance, key commercial drivers, risks and opportunities
- Identifying potential synergies and supporting post-acquisition value creation
- Preparing concise, high-quality financial due diligence reports, analysis and executive summaries
- Managing project plans, milestones, dependencies, deadlines and deliverables across multiple transactions
- Coordinating internal stakeholders and external advisers throughout the due diligence process
- Providing clear and timely progress reporting to senior leadership
- Identifying potential issues and risks, while developing practical mitigation and resolution proposals
- Contributing financial insight to acquisition integration planning and strategy
- Maintaining high standards of integrity, transparency and professional conduct throughout all transactions
About you
You will be a technically strong and commercially aware finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment. You will be comfortable taking ownership, managing competing priorities and communicating complex financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders. You are likely to have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Ideally, at least three years’ post-qualified experience
- Experience in corporate finance, M&A, financial due diligence, transaction services or a closely related area
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
- Experience working with large and complex data sets
- A strong understanding of financial statements, business performance and commercial value drivers
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial findings clearly and concisely
- Strong attention to detail and a highly organised approach
- The ability to manage several complex, deadline-driven projects at the same time
- Experience with AI-enabled tools and advanced analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau or Alteryx would also be beneficial.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Proactive, self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership
- Collaborative and willing to support colleagues across a small, non-hierarchical team
- Confident building trusted relationships with clients, advisers and internal stakeholders
- Commercially curious, with a genuine interest in acquisitions and business performance
- Professional, pragmatic and solutions-focused
This role is designed for someone wanting to apply their M&A and financial due diligence experience in a more entrepreneurial, collaborative environment.
