At HVN Labs, we’re revolutionising the creative and entertainment industry through cutting-edge AI-based drone software and hardware systems. Our innovative drone show platform, set to launch in 2026, enables safer, more expressive, and more accessible aerial displays for events worldwide. As we grow our internal development capabilities, we’re expanding our flight team to support commercial shows.

We are seeking an operations focused drone professional, who also has a passion for immersive events and shows. This is a hybrid role combining operations ownership with hands-on piloting experience. The role involves managing operational procedures for shows and demos (flight planning, client demos, client shows and delivery), while also contributing as a qualified pilot and show delivery. Forming a key part of our drone shows, bridging sales, creative, and engineering to ensure our operations are safe, compliant and delivered to a high standard.

In this role, you will operate and test advanced multi-drone systems, piloting both individual flights and synchronised swarm operations. You’ll form a key part of our drone show delivery, working with our engineering and creative teams to test new flight animations, test experimental drone technologies, and contribute to the evolution of our aerial platform. This role is based in Bristol with some travel across the UK and internationally. It’s important to us that you’re based close to our Bristol office, to work closely with the team.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Flight Controller and Lead Pilot for drone shows.
  • Own end-to-end operational planning for drone flights and live shows.
  • Conduct site assessments for proposed show locations.
  • Manage flight permissions for events (ACOMS, NOTAMs, venue approvals).
  • Ensure shows have sufficient pilots and ground crew.
  • Produce operational documents, RAMS, call sheets and travel logistics.
  • Support flight testing, show demos and live operations through SWARM piloting.
  • Oversee pre-flight setup, checklists and safety briefings.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and creative teams based on real-world flights.
  • Keep and maintain show equipment including drones, batteries and lighting.
  • Support troubleshooting, incident response and post flights reviews.
Requirements:
  • Must already hold a CAA GVC licence.
  • Practical experience as a drone pilot.
  • Strong understanding of drone operations, flight planning and safety management.
  • Excellent organisational, documentation and planning skills.
  • Confident in communicating with clients, venues and internal teams.
  • Calm and methodical under operational pressure.
  • Willingness to travel, work evenings, weekends and public holidays for show delivery.

NOTE: Candidates must be within a commutable distance from our Bristol office. Day-to-day fleet testing takes place near Future Space, Bristol. Show delivery is across the UK, Europe and UAE. Some UK and international travel will be required.

What We Offer:
  • Salary banding of £30k - £40k based on experience.
  • Opportunity to contribute ideas towards hardware and software development.
  • On-the-job training and professional development support.
  • Access to prototyping labs and flight-testing activities.
  • Hybrid and flexible work arrangements.
  • A dynamic and creative work environment in a pioneering drone and immersive technology company.
