hVIVO conducts human challenge clinical trials. The goal of our trials is to potentially eradicate illnesses like the cold and flu or improve their treatment. Volunteers are central to our work. Our studies test new treatments in a controlled, clinical environment.
As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will perform clinical assessments such as vital signs, ECGs, venepuncture, and spirometry, alongside sample and data collection, all in accordance with regulatory requirements. You will support the wellbeing of volunteers throughout their participation.
You will work collaboratively with the team in daily activities within the volunteer screening clinic and the quarantine unit. We require full-time commitment. The role involves 24/7 shifts, including days and nights from Monday to Sunday. Flexibility is essential. The role is on a zero-hours contract at Β£11 per hour, employed via a third-party agency.
Main Responsibilities- Screen suitable subjects, including consenting participants.
- Perform clinical procedures accurately to ensure credible data.
- Plan and prepare daily activities.
- Assist in managing the clinical area daily.
- Follow internal policies, SOPs, and study protocols.
- Ensure work areas are safe, hazard-free, and compliant with health and safety laws.
- Handle queries, file, prepare audit information, enter data into databases, and manage correspondence efficiently.
- Accurately complete CRFs and other data documentation as per protocol.
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding volunteer schedules.
- Participate in audits as needed.
- Provide receptionist and administrative support for volunteers arriving for screening or follow-up visits, ensuring the reception area is staffed during clinic hours.
- Adhere to ICH-GCP and best practices at all times.
- GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to listen, clarify, identify solutions, and agree on actions.
- Good IT skills (Word and Excel or equivalent).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of ICH-GCP and regulatory standards.
- Ability to manage and prioritize workloads.
- Willingness to learn additional skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive and supportive team player.
- Immediate Life Support certification.
- Experience within the UK healthcare system, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Previous experience in a clinical research environment.
- Degree in Biological Sciences.
- Fundamental Clinical Care knowledge.
- Critical thinking skills.
Since the role involves direct contact with volunteers and blood sampling, vaccination against Hepatitis B is required, and having the seasonal Flu vaccination is strongly recommended.
