About the Role
We are recruiting for a Water Hygiene Engineer to join an established Facilities Management team on a large static site in Newcastle.
The role will focus on the monitoring, maintenance and compliance of hot and cold water systems across two campuses comprising 40+ buildings.
You’ll work closely with the site Facilities Management and engineering teams, supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, water hygiene compliance and subcontractor activities.
Training will be provided in access platforms and water management.
The Role
- Carry out routine monitoring of water systems across the designated buildings.
- Complete weekly and monthly water system tasks to ensure compliance.
- Undertake TMV failsafe and servicing.
- Carry out cleaning and disinfection of cold water storage tanks and associated plant.
- Assist the site technical team with maintenance and repair activities.
- Undertake non-technical engineering maintenance tasks where required.
- Work alongside subcontractors to ensure works are completed to a high standard.
- Record and manage work through a CAFM system using a tablet.
- Maintain clean and tidy plant and work areas.
About You
- Experience working within water hygiene, legionella, water treatment or a related environment.
- Working knowledge of HSG274, ACOP L8 and HTM requirements.
- Understanding of legionella awareness and hot and cold water systems management.
- Experience with water delivery systems and isolation procedures.
- Strong background in legionella, water treatment, water hygiene or chemicals.
- IT literate, with the ability to use CAFM systems.
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider technical team.
- Good communication skills and a reliable, punctual approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Plumbing qualification up to NVQ Level 2.
- Risk Assessor qualification.
- Knowledge and experience of RPZ valves.
- Experience working within a healthcare/HTM environment.
